In the ‘Memo’ area of the check, you may designate how the funds may be used. However it is best to attach a note for any suggested designations. As per IRS rules, your check cannot have a designation to any individual saint in the ‘Memo’ area. Designating a check to a specific named saint violates IRS rules and the check will need to be returned to you.
